Women Empowerment is an integral part for a comprehensive economic development of the society as a whole and specifically for the poorer sections of the society. Such objective can be achieved through the following:
Self-Confidence through Skill Development: The belief that “I CAN” is the biggest tool for an individual for becoming economically productive. Such self-confidence can be brought about through skill development that can help them gain employment, start their own businesses. These skills can be a powerful tool for economic empowerment, allowing women to become more self-sufficient and financially independent.
Self-Expression through creativity: Inherent natural creativity of a person can be brought out through designing and creation of small articles of personal use. Manufacturing apparels, knitting, making of junk jwellery and soft toys, hand printing and painting of garments, etc. can be various forms of creative self-expression, which can be an important tool for women who may not have many opportunities to express themselves in other ways. By creating various articles of their own, women can showcase their individuality and creativity.
Skill Development & Environmental Sustainability: Skill Development programs can also promote environmental sustainability by encouraging the use of secondhand materials and by promoting the use of upcycling and repurposing techniques.
Presently we are running a free tailoring curriculum (cutting and sewing of garments) at our Banipur Centre for such skill development providing the women from the local communities with valuable skills, social support and a sense of purpose and self-expression.
To help in creating a section of women in the society who are able to become self-dependent through their skills and add economic values to their families and to the society.
